PROFESSIONAL
Robotics Software Engineering in Practice
Hey, I'm Robin, a passionate software engineer focused on robotics, safety-relevant validation.
Since joining FERCHAU at SICK AG, I have been working on safety-relevant validation scenarios for mobile robots, connecting software, robot control, and precise pose tracking in real test environments. Before that, my master's thesis and research work took me into autonomous navigation, SLAM, and local planning. The results were promising enough to keep pursuing the research: together with my university supervisors, we are currently preparing a paper. Earlier roles shaped my interest in requirements engineering, WPF applications, and software that people actually use.
Download CVAbsolutely perfect. Rarely have I seen such a clear and meticulous piece of work.
EXPERIENCE
Current Work & Previous Roles
A compact overview of work I have pursued with plenty of passion and curiosity.
I set up and execute manual, safety-relevant validation scenarios for mobile robot systems in real test environments at SICK AG. The work combines ROS 2, C++, Python, UR20 and AGV robot control, LidarLoc-based pose tracking, and RTDE communication, with a strong focus on reliable test execution and traceable validation quality.
During my research internship in Lisbon, I developed ROS-based modules for autonomous navigation. My work focused on SLAM, local planning, and improving pose estimation for mobile robots. I also competed at RoboCup with the SocRob team, putting our modules to work on real robotic platforms. The collaboration continued after my internship, and I am now the lead author of a paper we are preparing for IEEE RA-L and IROS.
I developed and maintained Odoo ERP workflows, implemented process automation, and supported contract management as part of second-level support. The role strengthened my practical experience with Python, SQL, business processes, and production software maintenance. Sadly I had to leave my team when my internship in Lisbon began
I built a .NET/WPF document archiving application from initial requirements analysis through acceptance and company-wide rollout. The project involved stakeholder communication, UI design, SQL integration, and end-to-end delivery. The application remains in daily use, which still makes me rather proud.
PERSONAL
Live each day as if it were your last.
More than just a proud nerd.
Even though I am not the easiest person to deal with, my friends and family benefit from my supportive, loyal nature, especially when life gets difficult. I value honesty, authenticity, empathy, and love when people close to me bring new perspectives into my life.

FAMILY
Watch Out, I Got Married!
Friend, partner, family.
Making life-changing decisions has always been a challenge for me. Yet from the moment we first met, everything just made sense, which is why marrying her felt like the most natural decision. I am deeply grateful to build a future by her side and to share both big, exciting adventures and life's quiet, everyday moments.
